Big Idea :: Search Engine Relevancy Reigns

In a time when search engine optimization is becoming a household phrase, little thought is given to the optimization portion.

Optimization is an apt name for it. This is an ongoing process for making your website and indeed your marketing message in general, resonate with, and become relevant to, your target buyer.

Relevancy, itself, is the quality to which the search engine results pertain to the query. It’s what separates the interesting from the useless.

What’s key here is to bridge the gap between what your audience is searching for and what you’re presenting in the marketplace. Technocrats love to use their own proprietary jargon to differentiate their products, but there are little or no search queries for meaningless jargon. You must use your audience’s language.

So, even though the engineers would call it a “portable, external data device utilizing a universal serial bus interface”, your audience would probably call it a “thumb-drive."

Use your audience’s language in every facet of your marketing and you will capture their attention and eventually their loyalty. In the age of information, relevancy reigns supreme.
